Next Dig

If you are new to us or interest in volunteering for the first time, have a look at our guide of what to expect on a dig, which has details of how to contact us to book onto our next weekend…

Following an 18 month hiatus, we have now returned to digging! We have implemented precautions for Covid-19, and all volunteers attending a Dig Weekend must complete an LFT in the 24 hours before attending, and send evidence of the negative result to the dig leader. During the weekend we will pay particular attention to hygene and attempt to maintain distancing where possible, both on site and in the accommodation. An LFT must also be carried out in the 48 hours after the dig and the result reported to the dig leader, and any positive test in the following 10 days should be reported so we can monitor any possible spread on the weekend. Additionally we are encouraging volunteers to consider the risks of attending a communal dig if they have not yet received a double vaccination.

The next dig is on the 9th/10th October 2021, working on the Buckingham Arm of the Grand Union Canal. Work will be focussed on the restoration of Bridge 2 near Cosgrove, addressing a couple of leaks that have been identified in the bank, and reprofiling the canal line. Accommodation is at Stoke Bruerne Village Hall, NN12 7SG.
